Rudans gård, Historic manor house in Haninge Municipality, Sweden
Rudans gård is a white plastered timber building positioned between Upper and Lower Rudasjön lakes, forming the central hub of the Rudan outdoor recreation area. The property includes multiple structures and open spaces that organize the surrounding nature reserve.
The building originated in the early 1600s as a farmstead dependent on Söderby Manor and gained its present form after a fire destroyed it around 1801. That fire marked a turning point when it was rebuilt with its current appearance.
The manor displays traditional Swedish construction from the 1800s with its white plastered timber walls. Visitors can observe how the building fits into the landscape between two lakes, reflecting local building practices.
The site is accessible by commuter train from Handen station, which offers four connections per hour to Stockholm. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water since the area features multiple trails through the surrounding nature.
During the 1900s the property operated as a small farm with laundry services, documented in historical parish records that listed residents as washerwomen and launderers. This work was an important economic activity for the area at that time.
