River Wonders, Zoo and aquarium in Central Water Catchment, Singapore
River Wonders is a zoo and aquarium combining aquatic exhibits with terrestrial animal habitats across 12 hectares, home to over 11,000 animals representing 260 species. The facility integrates different environments to recreate natural settings, allowing visitors to observe wildlife from around the world.
The park opened in 2012 and introduced the Amazon River Quest boat ride in 2013 to showcase South American fauna. This expansion reflected Singapore's effort to present diverse river ecosystems and the animals living within them.
The park features a dedicated Giant Panda Forest where visitors observe these rare animals as a symbol of wildlife cooperation between Singapore and China. The setting creates a space where the animals move naturally, allowing people to connect with them in a thoughtful way.
The facility operates daily with visitors needing time to explore all sections, as the grounds are quite spacious. Comfortable footwear is advisable, and while most paths are easy to walk, some areas have gentle slopes.
The Amazon Flooded Forest section contains one of the world's largest freshwater aquariums, showcasing species from the South American river system. This display stands out for its scale and the rare fish species rarely seen elsewhere.
