Woodlands Train Checkpoint, Border train station in Woodlands, Singapore
Woodlands Train Checkpoint is a railway station at Singapore's northern border serving cross-border train travel to Malaysia with integrated immigration and customs facilities. The station features ticket offices, waiting areas, and platforms designed to process passengers moving between the two countries.
The station opened in 1903 as a rail connection and developed into a major transport link between the regions over more than a century. In 1998 it was designated as the official railway checkpoint for border crossings between the two countries.
Visitors reach the checkpoint by buses 170 and 178 from Kranji MRT station, where ticket offices operate on the ground floor. Expect longer waits during peak commute times when many travelers cross the border.
The facility combines both railway operations and immigration procedures, allowing passengers to clear customs for both countries in a single location.
