Hajnáčka Castle is a ruins situated on a hilltop in the Rimavská Sobota region, with stone walls that still show their original structure. The fortress features stairs carved directly into the rock, and the ruins are spread across the elevated terrain.
The fortress was built around 1300 as a royal stronghold to control the region. It suffered multiple attacks over the centuries and burned down completely in 1703.
The fortress represents medieval Slovak defensive architecture, marking the historical boundary between nobility gatherings and regional governance.
The path up to the ruins is gentle and takes about an hour to walk and explore. Bring sturdy shoes and water, as the terrain is natural and exposed to the elements.
