Pak Kret, Administrative district in Nonthaburi, Thailand
Pak Kret is an administrative district in the northeastern section of Nonthaburi Province, bordered by the Chao Phraya River and surrounding districts. It contains 85 villages spread across five urban-administered sub-districts and rural areas managed through local organizations.
The district was formally established in 1884, though its river-based character took shape much earlier with the 1722 creation of Khlong Lat Kret canal. This waterway carved out Ko Kret island and became the foundation for the settlements that developed along it.
The district's sub-districts keep traditional Thai customs alive through local temples, markets, and pottery workshops located in river communities. Visitors can watch artisans at work and observe how these settlements maintain their craft heritage as part of daily life.
Getting around the district works best by local minibus or car, as it spans a wide area with water passages running through it. The most comfortable visiting season is October through February when the weather stays dry and mild.
The district is home to Impact Arena Exhibition Center, a large venue hosting international expos and concerts throughout the year. Many visitors overlook this major event space, which draws crowds from across the region for conferences and performances.
