Wat Daeng Thammachat

Wat Daeng Thammachat, Buddhist temple in Sai Ma, Thailand.

Wat Daeng Thammachat is a Buddhist temple in Sai Ma featuring an ordination hall with a curved base and ornate roof brackets. Two open pavilions frame the entrance, while monks' quarters, a central bell tower, and a modern parking area occupy the southern portion of the grounds.

The temple originates from the Ayutthaya period and underwent major restorations during the reigns of Kings Rama I, III, and VI through 1915. These restoration campaigns shaped the appearance of the sanctuary as it exists today.

The temple functions as an active spiritual center where visitors can watch monks in their daily routines and observe traditional Buddhist practices. The layout and buildings show how sacred space brings the community together.

The temple layout is easy to navigate, with the central bell tower serving as a reference point for orientation. Visitors should respect that this is an active religious site and dress appropriately while being considerate of the resident monks.

A Bodhi tree with lineage tracing back to the site of Buddha's enlightenment in India grows within the temple grounds near a traditional red meeting hall. This tree creates a direct connection between this location and Buddhism's holiest site.
