Ton Son Mosque

Ton Son Mosque is a prayer house in the Wat Arun district that blends Islamic elements with traditional Thai architectural styles in its construction. The brick and concrete structure demonstrates how these two building traditions merge together.

The building originated between 1610 and 1628 as a wooden structure with terracotta tiles before undergoing renovation during King Rama II's reign. These modifications shaped the form it has today.

The prayer hall displays decorative elements and Arabic inscriptions that reflect the daily spiritual practices of Bangkok's Muslim community.

The structure is located near Khlong Bangkok Yai canal and remains accessible during regular prayer times. Visitors should respect local customs and wear appropriate clothing.

A cemetery outside the structure serves as the final resting place for numerous leaders of Bangkok's Muslim community across different periods. This burial ground tells the story of Islam's presence in the city.
