Wat Khlong Suwannakhiri

Wat Khlong Suwannakhiri is a Buddhist temple with a central chedi tower and multiple vihara buildings for worship and monastic functions across its grounds. The complex displays typical features of Thai Buddhist architecture with its distinctive structures and spatial arrangement.

The site was systematically excavated between 1957 and 1961, revealing evidence of early Buddhist civilizations in this region. These investigations showed the historical importance of this location in the development of Buddhism throughout the Ratchaburi province.

The temple functions as a working place of worship where local Buddhists gather for daily prayers and ceremonies throughout the year. It serves as a spiritual center that shapes the rhythm of community life in the Khu Bua area.

The temple is located in a rural area southeast of Ratchaburi and is easiest to reach by private transportation. Visitors should wear respectful clothing and be mindful of the sacred nature of the site.

Excavations uncovered a remarkable stucco statue of a female musician that demonstrates the artistic skill of early communities at this location. This and other discoveries are now preserved in the National Museums of Ratchaburi and Bangkok.
