Wat Chulamani, Buddhist temple in Bang Chang, Thailand.
Wat Chulamani is a Buddhist temple and registered historic site in Bang Chang, Thailand. The compound includes several prayer halls with gilded doorways, decorated pavilions with carved wooden friezes, and a central pagoda rising above the courtyard.
The compound was founded in the 17th century during the reign of King Prasart Thong in the Ayutthaya period. Later restorations added new structures while preserving the original elements from the founding era.
The name Chulamani comes from Pali and refers to a legendary jewel on Buddha's forehead mentioned in ancient texts. Worshippers come here to join daily ceremonies or pause in the meditation halls while monks walk through the compound and share teachings.
Visitors should cover shoulders and knees and remove shoes before entering buildings. The compound is open from sunrise to sunset, with quieter moments during morning chanting and late afternoon.
Ancient stone inscriptions on the grounds describe medical practices and healing methods monks used centuries ago. These texts have been studied by scholars to understand traditional Thai medicine.
