Wat Sam Phran, Buddhist temple in Sam Phran, Thailand.

Wat Sam Phran is a temple featuring a striking 17-story cylindrical tower in Sam Phran, with a massive pink-painted dragon sculpture wrapping spirally around its exterior and reaching approximately 80 meters tall. The dragon winds upward around the entire structure, making it visible from a considerable distance.

The temple opened in 1985 as an unconventional approach that merged traditional Buddhist elements with modern architecture. This design concept was unusual for its time and established the site as a notable example of contemporary temple construction in Thailand.

The central dragon embodies protection and strength in Thai Buddhist tradition, and visitors walking through its interior levels encounter different spaces used for worship and reflection.

The temple is open daily, and the main entrance is located about 40 kilometers west of Bangkok, making a day trip from the city quite feasible. The grounds feature clear signage and access routes suitable for visitors with varying mobility levels.

The dragon sculpture's interior contains multiple connected levels that visitors can climb via stairs to reach different areas of the temple. This system allows people to explore the site from within the sculpture itself, creating an unexpected architectural experience.
