Dong Lakhon historical city, Archaeological site in Dong Lakhon sub-district, Thailand.
The ancient town spans 6 square kilometers on Dong Yai hill, featuring an oval-shaped settlement protected by two walls and a moat.
The site developed through two periods: Dvaravati influence from the 9th to 11th centuries and Khmer rule from the 12th to 14th centuries.
Archaeological discoveries include terra cotta, blue ceramics, glass beads, bronze jewelry, gold-plated Buddha heads, and laterite stupas displayed at Prachin Buri Museum.
Located 9 kilometers south of Nakhon Nayok, the site is accessible via Road #3076 and contains informative signage in Thai and English.
Local residents report hearing classical dance music during holy days, leading to the name Dong Lakhon, meaning jungle of classical dance.
