Khao Chon Kai Training Camp, Military training camp in Lat Ya, Thailand
Khao Chon Kai Training Camp is a Royal Thai Army facility in Lat Ya with multiple specialized training areas for soldiers. The installation features shooting ranges, jumping platforms, and various exercise grounds used throughout the year for tactical training.
The facility was established as an exclusively military site but opened to civilian visitors in March 2000. This shift marked a change from purely military operations to allowing limited public access to the grounds.
The name of the facility translates to Cockfighting Hill, connecting to Thai folklore about Khun Krai, a character from traditional stories.
The site is located on route 3199 between Kanchanaburi and Sringarind Dam, with public access during periods when military training is not in progress. Visiting during the months outside heavy training activity allows for better exploration of the grounds.
The facility permits public access during non-training periods, allowing civilians to experience military activities including shooting practice and tower exercises.
