Wat Khangkhao, Buddhist temple in Bang Phai, Thailand.

Wat Khangkhao is a Buddhist temple situated on the western bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bang Phai. The ordination hall features sixteen red sema stones arranged in a traditional pattern around its structure.

The temple was founded during the reign of King Trailok in the 15th century Ayutthaya period, making it a surviving structure from that era. It gained official recognition as a registered historic site in 1993.

Inside the ordination hall, the Luang Pho Kao statue captures attention with its distinctive four-fingered left hand, a detail that makes this representation immediately recognizable. This unusual feature gives the space a character that visitors notice and remember during their visit.

The temple is located at 138 Moo 4, Soi Bang Phai 10, and welcomes visitors throughout the day. Appropriate dress code in keeping with Buddhist customs is expected when entering the worship areas.

A Buddha footprint is permanently affixed to the wall facing the main Buddha image within the ordination hall, creating a rare detail that few visitors expect. This impression serves as a physical reminder of devotion practices rooted in ancient Buddhist traditions.
