It was established in the 3rd century BC and contained over 200,000 volumes.
The library was known for its collection of works on parchment, which was a significant innovation at the time.
Today, the ruins of the library can be visited in the ancient city of Pergamon.
It was considered to rival the famous Library of Alexandria.
