Çocuktepe Dam

Located on the Güzeldere River, the Çocuktepe Dam incorporates design elements to maximize water storage capacity and regulate flow through its 127-meter-long structure.

Construction of Çocuktepe Dam started in 2008 under Turkey's State Hydraulic Works, marking the beginning of a series of infrastructure projects along the Turkey-Iraq border.

The dam project reflects Turkey's approach to regional development, incorporating water management solutions while addressing border security considerations in southeastern provinces.

Standing at 45.5 meters high, the dam structure will contain 3.1 million cubic meters of water, supporting water supply needs in the Hakkâri Province region.

The dam forms part of an 11-dam network across Hakkâri and Şırnak Provinces, positioned strategically along valleys near the Iraq-Turkey border.
