Zhunan Township

Zhunan is an urban township in Miaoli County that combines residential neighborhoods, industrial areas, and coastal zones in one area. The township consists of multiple villages spread across a relatively flat landscape near the shoreline.

The area was originally named Tiong-káng before being renamed to Zhunan in 1920 during Japanese rule. The new name refers to its southern position relative to bamboo forests in nearby regions.

The township holds several temples dedicated to Mazu, the goddess protecting fishermen, which remain important gathering places for the community. These shrines shape the spiritual life of residents and welcome visitors to experience local devotion.

Visitors can easily reach the area through train stations and major highways that provide regional connections. The flat terrain makes exploration on foot or by bicycle straightforward and accessible.

The area is home to a significant Science Park that supports the computer industry while also offering beaches suitable for water sports. This blend of industrial development and recreational coastal access is rare for the region.
