Brands Hatch, Motorsport racing track in Kent, England
Brands Hatch is a motorsport racing track in Kent, southeast England, extending across 3703 meters of rolling countryside. The facility offers two different course layouts and takes advantage of natural terrain with clear elevation changes that create shifting perspectives for drivers and spectators alike.
The site served as a grass track for bicycles and motorcycles starting in 1926, before being paved with asphalt in 1950 and converted into a permanent racing circuit. Between 1964 and 1986, Formula One races took place here regularly, shaping the international profile of the facility.
The name comes from a sloping hillside where a simple cart track once ran, long before racing cars appeared here. During events today, visitors hear different engine sounds echoing across the hills as spectators gather along the barriers to watch the races unfold.
The circuit sits near major motorways that lead here from London and other parts of southeast England, making arrival by car straightforward. Racing events and driving experiences run throughout the year, and it helps to check in advance which activities are scheduled or underway.
Young participants aged 11 and above can join special YoungDrive courses here, where they learn how to control vehicles under professional guidance. These courses take place on the same track used by experienced racing drivers and offer an unusual introduction to motorsport for adolescents.
