Tirefour Castle, Iron Age broch in Isle of Lismore, Scotland
The circular stone tower stands on a rocky elevation with walls measuring 4.5 meters thick and reaching heights of 4.9 meters in certain sections.
The broch dates from the late Iron Age, with archaeological evidence indicating continuous habitation through the Roman period and into the Middle Ages.
The structure contains intramural galleries on its northwestern and eastern sides, demonstrating advanced architectural techniques of ancient Scottish builders.
Visitors can reach the broch via a 5-minute uphill walk from the parking area near Balure, located 0.5 miles southeast of Clachan.
The interior features a supporting ledge positioned 2.5 meters above ground level, extending across three-quarters of the inner circumference.
