Sidmouth, Coastal settlement in East Devon, England
The town stretches along red sandstone cliffs at the mouth of River Sid, with two miles of level promenade and pebbled beaches.
The settlement evolved from a medieval fishing village into a fashionable resort town during the Georgian period of the 1800s.
Sidmouth Folk Week attracts musicians and dancers each August, featuring performances across multiple venues throughout the town streets.
The town center contains independent shops, traditional tea rooms, and accommodation options within walking distance of the seafront.
A memorial window in the parish church was donated by Queen Victoria to commemorate her father, who resided in the town.
