Wyndham's Theatre, West End theatre in Charing Cross, United Kingdom
Wyndham's Theatre is a playhouse in London's Charing Cross area with four tiers of seating and 750 seats in neoclassical style. The interior shows red upholstery and gilded ornamentation across multiple gallery levels.
The building was designed by W.G.R. Sprague in 1899 and opened with a staging of David Garrick. The hall changed ownership several times and received major renovation in 2008 under Cameron Mackintosh.
The building carries the name of British actor Charles Wyndham, who also performed in its opening production. Visitors today experience a compact performance space with close connection between audience and performers.
The box office opens two and a half hours before performances at 32-36 Charing Cross Road. Evening performances usually start between 7 PM and 8 PM, while matinees take place in the afternoon.
The hall sits directly beside the Criterion Theatre, also designed by Sprague, forming an architectural pair with it. Both venues have often maintained parallel performance schedules due to their proximity.
