Swansea East, Parliamentary constituency in Swansea, United Kingdom.
Swansea East is a parliamentary constituency covering the eastern part of Swansea, including eight wards: Bonymaen, Cwmbwrla, Landore, Llansamlet, Morriston, Mynydd-Bach, Penderry, and St Thomas. The boundaries run from the River Tawe eastward, taking in residential neighborhoods and former industrial areas.
The constituency was created in December 1918 under the Representation of the People Act, when the previous single Swansea seat was divided into two separate constituencies. From its formation until 2024, the area consistently returned Labour members to Parliament.
The electoral district represents a demographically diverse population, reflecting the industrial heritage and social composition of eastern Swansea through its voting patterns.
The constituency operates through a local office that handles voter inquiries and works with council services on community issues. Registered electors can bring concerns directly to their representative during scheduled office hours or through written correspondence.
Over more than a century, this constituency recorded some of the highest Labour majorities in Wales. The consistent political alignment reflects the social character of communities shaped by the region's industrial past.
