Hever Castle, 13th-century castle in Kent, England
Hever Castle is a fortified manor house built in the 13th century near Edenbridge in Kent. The interior rooms spread across several floors and contain furnishings and objects from the Tudor period.
The manor was constructed in 1270 and later received its defensive features including the moat. The Boleyn family lived here until the mid-16th century before the property changed hands several times.
The castle displays a collection of period artwork, prayer books belonging to Anne Boleyn, and instruments from the Tudor period.
Access is through the drawbridge and leads through several rooms displaying items from different eras. The gardens surrounding the property can be explored on foot and offer paths through hedge mazes and landscaped grounds.
An American businessman purchased the property in the early 20th century and added a separate Tudor-style wing. The building now houses an extensive collection of armor and weapons from different centuries.
