Skara Brae, Archaeological site in Scotland
Skara Brae is a stone-built Neolithic settlement located on the Bay of Skaill on the west coast of Mainland, Orkney, Scotland.
Dating back to 3180 BCE, Skara Brae is older than Stonehenge and the Great Pyramids.
Skara Brae gives us insight into the culture and lives of the people, part of the Grooved ware people, who resided there over five millennia ago.
Skara Brae is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site included within 'The Heart of Neolithic Orkney' site.
Unlike most sites dating back from that era, houses at Skara Brae are remarkably well-preserved.
