Lincoln Christmas Market, Christmas market in Lincoln, United Kingdom
The Lincoln Christmas Market is a seasonal market located in Lincoln's historic quarter near the Cathedral. More than 200 stalls offer handcrafted gifts, decorations, and festive foods to visitors.
The market started in 1982 following a visit to Neustadt, Germany, beginning with just 11 stalls. It operated continuously for 40 years before closing in 2024 due to challenges with managing visitor numbers.
The market brings together British and German festive traditions. You can see this in the food, live music, and decorations spread across different parts of town.
The market was accessible via park-and-ride services from Lincolnshire Showground, with regular shuttle buses to the city center. The location in the old quarter made walking from other parts of town relatively straightforward.
The market grew from 11 stalls to drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors annually, becoming a major regional attraction. Its German origins created a unique fusion that drew people interested in experiencing both cultures' holiday traditions.

This collection gathers destinations that embody Christmas traditions around the world. It explores winter celebrations from the Arctic Circle to European historic centers, passing through major American cities. Each location offers its own interpretation of year-end festivities. The selection includes centuries-old markets such as Strasbourg's, which features three hundred chalets in the Alsatian capital, and Nuremberg's market with two hundred booths in the medieval old town. Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi welcomes visitors directly on the Arctic Circle, while New York showcases the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and the Santaland installation at Macy's. Christian landmarks like Bethlehem complete this collection, alongside Brooklyn residential neighborhoods transformed by December lights.
