Sherborne Abbey is an Anglican parish church in Sherborne, England, known for its wide stone construction and multiple side areas. Thick columns support the roof, while colored glass windows cast light across the interior.
A community of monks lived here from 998 and ran the building until the dissolution of monasteries in 1539. After that, it served the town's residents as a parish church.
The name derives from the old term for 'clear stream,' which once flowed through this valley. Many locals and visitors come to sit in the wooden pews, often pausing in silence or lighting candles near the entrance.
Access is allowed daily during opening hours and entry is free, except during special services. Paths inside the building are mostly level, though some areas are reached by steps.
