Eyebrook Reservoir, lake in the United Kingdom
Eyebrook Reservoir is a large water body located on the border between Leicestershire and Rutland in England. The reservoir covers about 200 hectares of open water and can be viewed from nearby roads, particularly along the northern end where pull-in areas allow visitors to stop and look out over the water.
The reservoir was constructed between 1937 and 1940 when the Eye Brook was dammed to supply water for a steel factory in Corby. During World War II, it served as the testing site for the bouncing bomb used in the famous Dambuster raids.
A small parking area is available at the Stoke Dry end, with several pull-in spots along the road offering water views. Visitors should be aware of light traffic when outside their vehicles and note that there are no public toilets, shops, or formal pathways.
A notable gathering point is the gull roost, where white gulls along with yellow-legged and Caspian gulls congregate in winter. The shallow muddy inlet called Bloods Dyke serves as a key stopover for migrating birds and draws regular attention from birdwatchers.
