Marazion, Coastal town in Cornwall, England
Marazion is a coastal town on Mount's Bay in Cornwall, with St Michael's Mount sitting offshore about half a mile away. At low tide, visitors can walk to the island across a causeway that connects it to the mainland.
The town received its first charter from King Henry III in 1257, making it one of the earliest chartered settlements in Britain. This royal approval established it as a significant trading port on the coast.
The name comes from Cornish words meaning "small market", reflecting the town's role as a trading hub in medieval times. The street layout and local shops still show traces of this commercial past.
The town offers basic services including a post office, restaurants, and art galleries that are easy to access. The coastal path and beach are directly accessible from the town center.
Marazion Marsh is a protected nature reserve where rare birds like Crakes and Warblers make their home. Birdwatchers find it one of the best viewing spots in the region.
