The garden grounds influenced literary works, as Lewis Carroll drew inspiration here for Alice in Wonderland during his frequent visits in the 1860s.

A 300-year-old conservatory stands within the grounds, alongside specialized areas dedicated to carnivorous plants and medicinal specimens sorted by therapeutic properties.
