Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology
Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, Archaeological museum in Bloomsbury, London, England
The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology displays over 80,000 Egyptian artifacts in a historic building at University College London.
The museum opened in 1892 through Amelia Edwards' donation and grew substantially when William Flinders Petrie transferred his collection in 1913.
The collection includes the Tarkhan dress, pottery sequences, and artifacts representing daily life across different periods of ancient Egyptian civilization.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday, with free admission and guided tours available upon request through University College London.
The museum maintains original Victorian display cases containing numerous small finds from precise archaeological contexts, supporting research and education.
