Chapel Allerton, Residential suburb in north-east Leeds, England

Chapel Allerton is a residential suburb in north-east Leeds with stone houses, local shops, restaurants, and green spaces located a short distance from the city center. The area spreads across a network of streets that combine older housing with community facilities serving the needs of everyday life.

The settlement first appeared as Alreton in the Domesday Book and later transformed from medieval farmland into a retreat for Leeds merchants during the 1600s. This shift reflects how the city's growth extended outward and changed the surrounding countryside.

The Seven Arts venue and Inkwell Arts center are gathering places where the community experiences theater, dance, and film regularly. These spaces show how local creativity shapes what residents do and how they spend their time together.

Several bus routes connect the suburb to the city center with a short travel time, and you will find independent shops and healthcare facilities throughout the area. The neighborhood is easy to walk around and has good links to main transit routes.

An area called Little Canada features streets named after Canadian cities, a detail created by former mayor Sir John Barran. This unusual feature often goes unnoticed by visitors exploring the neighborhood.
