St Ia's Church, St Ives

St Ia's Church is a granite and sandstone church in St Ives with a 24-meter tower featuring four levels. The structure displays carved piers throughout, showing the craftsmanship of its construction.

Construction began in 1410 and was completed in 1434, when it served as a chapel under the parish of Lelant. It arose during a period of local prosperity that is reflected in its craftsmanship.

The church displays artworks by Barbara Hepworth and Bryan Pearce, reflecting the artistic tradition of the town. Visitors encounter these pieces as part of the sacred space, showing how art and faith are woven together here.

A dynamite works explosion in 1905 destroyed the original east window of the church. This led to the installation of new stained glass windows that visitors can see today and that quietly mark an event in the town's past.
