Tate St Ives, Art gallery and history museum in St Ives, England.
Tate St Ives is an art gallery in St Ives, England, built on a former gasworks site above Porthmeor Beach. The building spans several levels with large windows facing the sea, bringing natural light into the exhibition spaces.
The gallery opened in June 1993 after several years of planning and construction on the site of a disused gasworks. Over the following decades, the complex was expanded to create more space for temporary exhibitions.
The collection features works by artists who lived and worked in St Ives, including Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon. Their paintings reflect how the Cornish coastal light and landscape shaped modern British art.
The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday, with longer hours between March and October. Guided tours and workshops are offered regularly, and access to the exhibition floors is available via stairs and a lift.
The 2017 expansion added new exhibition rooms while preserving the original design from the 1990s. The new areas open toward the coastline, reinforcing the connection between art and landscape.
