Yarm

Yarm is a market town in Stockton-on-Tees where the High Street features Georgian buildings housing independent shops and restaurants. The location on the south bank of the River Tees creates a connected historic streetscape with original facades spanning several periods.

The town emerged as a significant medieval trading port, with Dominican friars establishing a friary and hospital in 1286 that served the community for nearly three centuries. This religious institution shaped development and made it a major supply center for the region.
