West London, Administrative subregion in Greater London, United Kingdom.
This section of the capital encompasses seven boroughs, including Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon, Hounslow, and Richmond upon Thames, stretching west from the city center. The area presents itself as a mix of residential neighborhoods, commercial zones, green spaces, and riverside land along the Thames.
The administrative division was introduced in 2004 and underwent adjustments in 2008 and 2011 to keep pace with evolving planning frameworks. The individual boroughs, however, had existed long before as independent communities or parts of county territory.
Several boroughs such as Brent and Ealing appear today as residential areas with diverse shops, cafés and schools where many languages can be heard. Daily life takes place along the main streets, where markets, restaurants and small stores shape the scene.
The area can be reached by Underground, bus, and commuter train, with several lines connecting the individual boroughs to the center. Those moving around locally will find paths through residential streets, shopping avenues, and parkland that can be explored on foot or by bicycle.
Parks and green spaces occupy a notable part of the landscape and offer residents and visitors room to walk, jog, or picnic within the city. Some of these areas stretch along the Thames and open up views of the water.
