Pharaoh's Island, River island in Thames, Surrey, England
The residential island spans 280 meters in length and 60 meters in width, containing 23 houses named after Egyptian themes such as Memphis and Thebes.
The British Treasury purchased this island, formerly known as Dog Ait, for Admiral Nelson following his victory at the Battle of the Nile in 1798.
The island served as a filming location for director John Boorman's films Hope and Glory in 1987 and Queen and Country in 2014.
Access to the island requires a boat, as no bridges connect it to the mainland, making transportation a fundamental consideration for residents and visitors.
Each of the 23 properties bears names inspired by Egyptian elements, reflecting the connection to Admiral Nelson's Battle of the Nile victory.
