Cleeve Hill

Cleeve Hill is the highest point in Gloucestershire, rising 330 meters above the Cotswolds landscape. The terrain features open grassland interspersed with a golf course, offering far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside.

The hilltop reveals archaeological traces of a Neolithic long barrow and an Iron Age fort near the summit. Later, a golf course opened in 1891, transforming the location into a recreational destination.

Multiple parking areas and access points allow visitors to reach the hilltop through various walking trails across Cleeve Common. The open paths are accessible year-round and provide routes suitable for different fitness levels.

The limestone grassland supports specialized plant species adapted to calcium-rich soils. These uncommon plant communities draw the attention of nature watchers and botanists.
