Tittenhurst Park, Georgian country house in Sunninghill and Ascot, England
Tittenhurst Park is a country house in Georgian style located in Sunninghill and Ascot, England, set within a 72-acre estate. The main building displays a white stone facade and several wings added during renovation work around 1830.
The estate belonged to Thomas Holloway, founder of Royal Holloway College, in 1869 before Thomas Hermann Lowinsky acquired it in 1898. Lowinsky created extensive rhododendron gardens that continue to shape the grounds today.
The Lennon family used the estate as their residence from 1969 until 1973, before it passed to Ringo Starr, who lived there until 1988. The white facades and manicured lawns served as backdrops for music photography and album artwork.
The estate sits near London Road at Beggar's Bush, roughly three kilometers from Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water Lake. The white facade is partly visible from the road between mature trees and rhododendron bushes.
John Lennon built Ascot Sound Studios on the grounds in 1970, which Ringo Starr later renamed Startling Studios and opened for commercial recording. The studio buildings still stand today among the trees near the main house.
