3MT Venue, Independent theater in Northern Quarter, Manchester, England
The 3MT Venue was a small theater in Manchester with roughly 70 seats, located on the third floor of Afflecks Arcade. The space hosted different types of performances, ranging from drama and music to poetry and comedy.
The venue opened in October 2010 as part of Manchester's expanding arts scene in the Northern Quarter. It closed in July 2019 after nearly a decade of operation.
The venue served as a key platform for local artists to present their work directly to audiences. Regional performers and visiting groups used the space to develop and test new productions in front of live crowds.
The venue was easy to reach by public transport and sat in an accessible area filled with shops and cafes. A licensed bar on-site served drinks to visitors before and after performances.
Many performances at the space lasted exactly three minutes, creating a unique format for concentrated artistic expression. This time-limited concept attracted artists interested in experimental and rapid creative forms.
