Allerton Castle, Gothic Revival mansion in Allerton Mauleverer, England.
The main section of Allerton Castle incorporates dark stone architecture with a 70-foot tower positioned above the entrance porch, presenting Tudor-Gothic design elements.
Constructed between 1843 and 1853 by architect George Martin, Allerton Castle replaced an earlier structure on an estate dating back to the Norman Conquest.
The estate's Temple of Victory, visible from the A1 road, connects to the nursery rhyme about The Grand Old Duke of York through local traditions.
The castle opens to visitors every Tuesday from 10 AM to 1 PM, with arrangements available for group tours through advance telephone booking.
During World War II, the castle served as headquarters for the Royal Canadian Air Force component of RAF Bomber Command, directing operations across Europe.
