Arighi Bianchi, Furniture store and Grade II* listed building in Macclesfield, England
The four-story building displays a cast iron and glass frontage with Italianate windows, standing prominently near Macclesfield Station on Silk Road.
Italian immigrants Antonio Arighi and Antonio Bianchi established the furniture business in 1854, after Arighi crossed the Alps fleeing the Italian civil war.
The store received Royal Appointment recognition from Edward VII, Queen Alexandra, and Queen Mary, supplying furniture to Marlborough House and Sandringham House.
The recently renovated showroom includes Caffe AB, offering seasonal cuisine, breakfast specialties, and main courses throughout business hours.
In 1973, the Victorian Society and Sir John Betjeman successfully campaigned to prevent the demolition of this architectural landmark.
