Baynard Castle

Baynard Castle consists of stone foundations and earthwork remains from a medieval fortification located near Cottingham village. The ruins show the ground plan of what was once a defensive structure built during the Norman period in England.

The castle was built in the post-Norman Conquest period when England saw widespread fortification construction. Over time the structure fell into disuse and gradually disappeared beneath the landscape, leaving only these archaeological traces.
