Ashby de la Zouch Castle

Ashby de la Zouch Castle is a medieval ruin dominated by the Hastings Tower, whose stone walls and brick elements form multiple defensive layers. The structure displays the layout of a fortified residence from that era, with various chambers and passages throughout.

The fortress developed in the mid-15th century when an existing manor house was transformed into a fortified castle by Lord William Hastings. Subsequent centuries brought changes that fundamentally altered the site's appearance and purpose.

The site once hosted jousting tournaments that drew crowds from surrounding regions, events that shaped how people understand medieval life here today.

The site is easy to reach on foot and offers many areas to explore, though some sections can be challenging due to their structure. It is wise to wear comfortable shoes and come prepared for uneven ground depending on the weather.
