Bispham Parish Church, Anglican church in Blackpool, England
Bispham Parish Church is a limestone building with a five-bay nave, chancel and transepts displaying Early English architectural style. The south-west tower and overall layout reflect the craftsmanship typical of Grade II listed structures from its construction period.
The building was constructed in 1883 by architect John Lowe of Manchester and incorporates stonework from the early 12th century. This layering of periods reflects how the site was rebuilt while preserving elements from earlier structures.
The church has served as a gathering place for the community since its establishment, shaping the spiritual life of Blackpool residents. People continue to visit for worship and quiet reflection, maintaining traditions that have connected generations of worshippers.
The church is open during regular worship services and visitors can view the graveyard with its historical memorials on the grounds. It is advisable to dress respectfully and visit when services are not in progress to move freely through the building.
The south doorway features a restored Norman entrance with scalloped capitals carved with zodiac signs. These intricate decorations were preserved from earlier churches that previously occupied the site.
