Beth Chatto Gardens, Grade II listed garden in Elmstead Market, England.
The seven-acre garden contains different sections including Mediterranean Garden, Gravel Garden, Reservoir Garden, and Water Garden, each with specific plant selections.
Beth Chatto transformed an abandoned chalk quarry into this garden during the 1960s, applying ecological principles to create flourishing plant communities.
The garden demonstrates the philosophy of selecting plants according to natural growing conditions, influencing modern approaches to sustainable gardening.
Visitors can explore the gardens from April through November, Tuesday to Saturday, and purchase plants from an on-site nursery with over 2,000 varieties.
The garden features stepped ponds, mature oak trees, and specialized areas that showcase plants thriving in both water-logged and extremely dry conditions.
