Brighton Electric, Recording studio in Brighton, United Kingdom
Brighton Electric is a recording studio housed in a multi-story building with 17 practice spaces, two recording studios, and professional mastering facilities. The complex combines production areas with rehearsal rooms, mixing suites, and a music equipment repair shop all under one roof.
The studio occupies the former headquarters of Brighton Corporation Tramways, a transport administration building from 1897 that retains its original architecture. The conversion of this historic structure into a creative hub demonstrates how an old municipal building was adapted for modern music production.
Many British artists including The Cure, Royal Blood, and Laura Marling have created albums in Brighton Electric's professional recording environment.
The complex is straightforward to navigate, with clearly marked areas for recording, rehearsal, and storage spread across different levels. Visitors should plan ahead since the facilities are typically reserved by bands and individual artists rather than open for drop-in use.
The building includes a live music venue with seating for around 175 people and a vegan café that serves performers and visitors during operating hours. This combination allows musicians to not only create and record, but also gather and share their work in one place.
