Centre of the Earth

Centre of the Earth is an environmental education facility in Winson Green with timber structures and landscaped grounds situated beside the Soho Loop of the BCN Main Line Canal. The site includes specialized areas for habitat creation demonstrations and offers forest school sessions designed for different age groups.

The facility opened in 1993 as Britain's first purpose-built environmental education center, converting a former council yard into a learning space. This pioneering establishment marked a turning point in creating dedicated venues for practical nature education in urban areas.

The center serves the local community by offering hands-on learning opportunities about nature and habitat creation in an urban setting. Visitors experience how environmental education connects city dwellers to the natural world through practical demonstrations and activities.
