Christchurch Park

Christchurch Park is a large green space with structured landscape features including tree collections, tennis courts, and play areas. A network of walking paths connects different zones throughout the grounds.

The site was once home to a 12th-century Augustinian priory before the land opened to the public in 1895. This marked the creation of Ipswich's first public green space.

The park hosts community events including Ipswich Music Day and formal Remembrance Day ceremonies that shape the local calendar. These gatherings bring together residents and visitors throughout the year.

The park has multiple entry points around its perimeter, making access convenient from different directions. The internal paths are well-marked and accommodate various types of visitors.

The grounds support over 100 bird species and feature a visitor centre built after extensive restoration work. This biodiversity makes the space an important wildlife refuge within the city.
