Cobra Mist

Cobra Mist is a former radar station situated on Orford Ness peninsula in Suffolk. The facility consists of a central operations building surrounded by twelve transmission towers, of which five reach particularly significant heights.

The station was built and activated in the early 1970s as part of a joint British-American surveillance program. It served as a key component in defense strategies during the tensions between Western nations and the Soviet Union.

The installation stands as a physical reminder of how Britain and America worked together on military defense projects during the Cold War era. Visitors walking through the site can see the remnants of this partnership reflected in the engineering choices and layout of the structures.
