Cockfield Windmill is a four-story brick tower that rises above the Suffolk landscape and was built in 1891. The structure features an elliptical upper pod clad in zinc panels and now serves as holiday accommodation with two bedrooms and a kitchen dining area.
The mill was built in 1891 by millwrights Brewer & Sillitoe to replace an earlier structure on the site. It operated briefly before ceasing grain-grinding operations in 1900.
The name reflects its original purpose, and visitors today can observe how a former grain-grinding site has been transformed into residential space. The adaptation shows how rural industrial buildings find new life in modern communities.
The structure is accessible to visitors as holiday accommodation with views across the surrounding countryside. The rural location requires planning for arrival, as the nearest larger towns are several kilometers away.
