Denver Windmill, Tower mill in Denver, United Kingdom.
Denver Windmill is a six-story stone tower structure in Norfolk featuring four double-shuttered patent sails. The building contains three pairs of grinding stones and operates with a visitor center that includes a tearoom and bakery on its grounds.
The mill was constructed in 1835 as a replacement for an earlier post mill design in the area. Operations ceased in 1941 when lightning damaged the wind-powered machinery, bringing its working life to an end.
The mill represents Norfolk's connection to grain farming through its traditional methods of processing cereals. Visitors can observe how communities once relied on such structures to turn harvested crops into usable flour.
The site is accessible from Sluice Road and offers straightforward visiting conditions without special requirements. A tearoom and bakery are on-site providing refreshment options during your visit.
Inside the mill stands a distinctive iron mortice spur wheel mounted on an octagonal upright shaft, revealing the engineering ingenuity used in grain machinery. This component shows how millers combined different materials to maximize efficiency in their operations.
